Randall_Townsel Turbo Athletics ChicagoRandall Townsel, youth mentor and co-owner of Turbo Athletics is one of the top sports performance coaches in the Chicagoland area.

Born and raised in Chicago, Townsel attended Northern Illinois University (Dekalb). He became a starter as a true freshman and proceeded to lead his team and receive accolades in several areas including, 2nd in the nation in team interceptions (1987); 23rd in the nation individual interceptions (1987); led team in passes broken up for two consecutive years (1987-88); ranked consistently in the top 3 on the Huskies strength and conditioning test; named an All-Independent Team defensive back (1988 Playboy Magazine-Pigskin Issue) and became his teams top professional prospect as a senior. Townsel graduated in 1989 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.

Prior to attending Northern Illinois University, Townsel was one of the states (Illinois) top-100 high school players, after starring at Chicago’s Percy L. Julian High School. Townsel was a major contributor towards (2) City Championships and (2) Prep bowls.  Townsel also competed in the 100 and 200-meter events at the Illinois state track championships.

Townsel devotes his time to the development of student-athletes through speed and agility training, teaching self-discipline, mental toughness and the importance of a sound academic foundation. Having a father and business partner with a BS in Physical Education and Health, and having participated in most sports as an athlete, Coach Townsel has the ability to combine scientific knowledge with the experiences that he’s had from his own sports career to create results-driven training programs.
